HQE Percentage Timers The new generation HQE Series percentage timer is an accurate, economical, enclosed percentage timer designed for use in industrial applications where a repetitive ON time of a fixed cycle needs to be variable. It is typically used in irrigation control, chemical injection/feeding, oven cycling and program temperature control, lubrication systems, motor control and related industrial applications. The HQ4E like its predecessor, the HQ4, features apanel mounted unit with an exposed dial knob. The heavy duty front dial plate has 4 mounting studs for simple and secure mounting to panels up to 1/4 inch thick. The load relays and control electronics are enclosed for environmental protection. Connections to load relays and power are made to screw terminals on the rear of the unit. The HQ4E’s solid state design closes an electro-mechanical relay for a selected percentage of the total time cycle of the unit. Percentage settings are made with a knob and dial on the front of the unit. Settings may be made or changed with the timer operating. With a dial setting between 5% and 100%, terminals 2 and 3 are closed relative to the setting. At 100% setting, terminals 2 and 3 are closed continuously. At 0% setting, terminals 2 and 3 are open continuously. Much like the HQ4E, the new generation HQ9E Percentage reset timer offers adjustable timing as a percentage of overall cycle and accurate efficient control for many industrial applications. These include motion control, electric heaters/heat control, ovens, program temperature controls, chemical feeding, and lubrication systems. It times through a preset cycle and is then automatically or manually reset until it is restarted by an outside source. The new HQ9E’s feature an electrically isolated pilot light, an array of 20 individual LEDs for cycle progress; unique plug-in mounting that is compatible with the popular CYCL-FLEX® series Eagle timers. The HQ9E’s solid state design closes an electro-mechanical relay for a percentage of the total time cycle. Settings may be made or changed with the timer operating. Relationship of relay transfer point at zero and desired interval is made by adjustment of the setting pointer. As the LED array lights to zero, the relay transfers. The HQ9E continues to operate as a repeat cycle timer as long as power is supplied. ON time is adjustable from 5% to 100% of the total time range. Load connections are made to terminals 4 and 3. Higher Flexibility & Reliability - The new solid state electronic HQ4E and HQ9E reset timers are Eagle-Signal’s response to a trend toward more functionality and reliability, with less mechanical parts to wear out. Both new generation digital timers are designed to provide repeatability of 1% of the total time cycleand withstand industrial temperatures from -10° to 140°F (-23° to +60°C). Furthermore, these Eagle-Signal brand timers are UL (UL Recognition E61735) and CSA compliant (CSA Certification LR26861). Economical – Low Cost of Ownership: The new HQE Series timers provide economical control at a lower installed cost than other timers with comparable features in their class. With solid state electronic cuircitry and utilizing surface mount manufacturing techniques, the new HQ4E & HQ9E have far fewer moving parts than the older HQ Series, electro-mechanical versions, that required periodic repair and maintenance. Seamless Drop In Replacement - The new generation HQ4E and HQ9E effectively replace the mechanical version HQ4 and HQ9 which will be phased out in the future. Users of the legacy HQ4 and HQ9 model reset timers can easily drop in a new generation HQ4E and HQ9E into their existing applications with no fuss. The new generation electronic models have been designed to provide seamless transition and direct drop-in replacement capability for our customers.
